Summer Wrestling: Try More. Learn More. Become More.

Summer isn’t about your win-loss record. It’s about expanding your toolbox.

Too many wrestlers spend the offseason doing the same things with the same partners in the same room. While consistency matters, summer is the perfect time to step outside your comfort zone and try something different.

Learn a new technique. Wrestle a new style. Put yourself in unfamiliar positions. Whether it’s Judo, Brazilian Jiu-Jitsu, Greco-Roman, Sambo, or another combat sport, every style has something valuable to teach. You may not use every technique in a wrestling match, but you’ll develop better balance, body awareness, creativity, and confidence.

When I was in high school and college, I made it a point to train in a different combative sport every offseason. It kept my mind fresh and constantly expanded my wrestling toolbox. Every coach had a different perspective. Every room had a different pace. Every training partner presented a new challenge. I believe those experiences made me a better wrestler.

That’s exactly the philosophy behind the South Sound Wrestling Camp.

At camp you’ll train with new partners, experience a different practice pace, learn new drills, and be challenged by coaches with different teaching styles. Sometimes all it takes is one new idea or one new training partner to completely change the direction of your season.

This summer, don’t worry about winning every live go. Worry about learning something new every day.
